Film and television adaptations raise questions, but in order to get an opinion on them, you need to read the book first.
With Netflix, Hulu, and HBO constantly making adaptations from book to film, there are plenty of stories to read.

1. Not Crawdads Sing Author: Delia Owens
Not Crawdads Sing it’s one of the most anticipated book adaptations of the decade, having spent 124 weeks on the bestseller list. Located in Barkley Cove, North Carolina, the story follows the life of Kya, known to the locals as ‘Marsh Girl’. Set in two different eras, the chapters alternate between fixing Kya’s childhood only in the swamps, and adulthood, where Chase Andrews ’murder becomes a suspect in the investigation.
With Reese Witherspoon in mind, the film will be released in 2022, starring Daisy Edgar Jones. The women-directed adventure also sees Lucy Alibar writing the screenplay and directing Olivia Newman.
2. Your lover’s last letter Author: Jojo Moyes
Your lover’s last letter is now in theaters, based on the best-selling book by Jojo Moyes. The love is set in two different eras, following a journalist who finds a collection of love letters from the 1960s and wants to know more about the people behind them.
Directed by Augustine Frizzell, this film stars an impressive actress and stars Shailene Woodley, Callum Turner, Joe Alywn and Felicity Jones.
3. Conversations with friends Author: Sally Rooney
Sally Rooney Conversations with friends it goes the same way Normal people, adapted by the same group in a 12-episode TV series. The Hulu project, which will be released in 2022, will feature Alison Oliver, Joe Alwyn, Sasha Lane and Jemima Kirke.
The story is set in Dublin, followed by Frances and Bobbi’s ex-girlfriends and best friends, and an unexpected relationship between Melissa and Nick, a beautiful and successful couple.
4. Exciting times Author: Naoise Dolan
Naoise Dolan’s debut novel Exciting times Black Bear Pictures will adapt to a US TV series, announcing that Naoise will be participating as executive producer. The release date and actor have not yet been officially announced.
The story is that Ava, a millennial Irish foreigner living in Hong Kong, teaches English to wealthy children. He is inevitably in a love triangle with a male banker and a female lawyer – both of whom are obsessed with work and very intelligent – and are forced to choose between the two.
5. Gucci house Author: Sara G Forden
Gucci house perhaps the most anticipated film of the year, the Ridley Scott adaptation starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver and Jared Leto. And let’s not forget the wider actor Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Al Pacino.
It will be released in November 2021, an adaptation of Sara G Ford’s book inspired by the family empire behind Gucci and the actual murder of Guccio Gucci’s grandson Mauritius.
6. Queenie Author: Candice Carty-Williams
Queenie It was an immediate success after its release in 2019, after a 25-year-old British Jamaican woman who was sailing in life after a major breakup. It was a must-read, unexpectedly picked up for a TV adaptation.
The actor and release date are yet to be announced, but we know Queenie It was purchased by Further South Productions and is being written for Channel 4 by Candice Carty-Williams herself.
7. Nine Perfect Strangers Author: Liane Moriarty
Liane Moriarty’s best-selling book Nine Perfect Strangers, Hulu has become a drama miniseries, which will premiere on August 18th. On the cast side, it’s full of stars, led by Nicole Kidman. Along with him are Melissa McCarthy, Samara Weaving, Luke Evans and Bobby Cannavale.
The premise is simple: nine people gather at Tranquillum House Resort’s Mashak, a 10-day welfare retreat organized by a Russian businessman who has become a welfare guru. Although they have come to heal and practice self-acceptance, they quickly see that retirement is not what they enlisted.
8. He said By Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor
He said it tells the real story New York Times A presentation by Harvey Weinstein, written by journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor about the experience of burying and breaking the story. Now it’s coming to the big screen, starring Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan as two journalists.
There is no release date yet, but the women-directed film will be directed by Rachel Lenkiewicz and directed by Maria Schrader.
9. Pisces Author: Melissa Broder
Melissa Broder’s best-selling book of 2018 Pisces is being adapted for the big screen, the author himself will direct and take care of the script. And although there is no release date yet, they have confirmed that the main actor is Claire Foy.
Unusual story Lucy, a depressed doctoral student, travels to Los Angeles to have a dog with her sister and ends up falling in love with a mermaid in Venice Beach.
