We rode a 300 HP 2023 Toyota GR Corolla with a shotgun and we were very surprised.

Toyota has a bit of a boring reputation, but the company is trying to change it by making it more sporty and more interesting.

We saw the fruits of their labor, because the GR86 is a great driver’s car, and the GR Supra can tear things off the road.

However, they are just getting started, as the 2023 GR Corolla aims to combine excitement with five doors. After one lap of the Eagles Canyon Raceway, the company seems to have succeeded.

We had to wait a while longer to get behind the wheel, but the car was definitely impressive in the hands of a professional racer. While they can make virtually anything look beautiful, the GR Corolla looked perfect on our short trip.

All-wheel drive and 300 hp. The hatch is powerful and attractive thanks to a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that develops torque (224 kW / 304 PS) and 273 pound-feet (370 Nm). most of it. On a full-drive theme, the GR-Four system offers adjustable and front / rear power distributions of 60:40, 50:50 and 30:70. This means that the torsion of the handle can be the front, neutral or rear of the vehicle.

While this is a feature of the trick party, the all-wheel drive system has other advantages, as well as helping the hatch stay in great shape after jumping off the edge and heading towards the grass. In addition, the GR-Four system provides more grip and is aided by Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires wrapped in 18-inch glossy black wheels.

The latter are equipped with a powerful braking system that includes four piston and 14-inch (356 mm) discs at the front, as well as 11.7-inch (297 mm) and two-piston calipers at the rear. This is a big upgrade from the standard 11.5-inch (292 mm) front and 10.5-inch (267 mm) rear standard model discs. Thus, the GR Corolla has an effective stopping force and sufficient resistance to repeated cycles. However, with the desire of dozens of journalists to walk, Toyota was forced to break the leaf blowers to cool off between runs.

We will talk a lot about the GR Corolla in the future, but the car seems to be solid but comfortable. It is also worth noting that after a day of driving Supras and Lexus LC, I was pleased to see that the GR Corolla offers a lot of space, even if you wear a helmet. The sports seats also provide support, and the three-cylinder engine and three-way exhaust have a sportier note that sounds better than expected.
