Discounts are often the best way to spur demand for any car model as people love to save money
The Toyota Fortuner and Legender are available with attractive discount offers currently. Fortuner is the most successful 7-seat off-roading SUV in the country. It has been ruling to roost ever since Ford discontinued making cars in India. Fortuner’s arch nemesis, the Endeavour, is not on sale since 2021. Interestingly, no other vehicle has emerged as a worthy competitor to gain the trust of the customers in this space. That is why it is rare that you would find any offers or benefits on the Toyota Fortuner. Let us delve into the specifics of this latest case.
Discount Offers on Toyota Fortuner & Legender
At present, buyers can get a Rs 30,000 cash benefit and a Rs 1 lakh exchange bonus on the Toyota Fortuner. Hence, you can avail of a bonus of up to Rs 1.30 lakh. On the other hand, for the Legender variant, there is an even better cash discount of Rs 75,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs 1 lakh. This takes the total to a significant Rs 1.75 lakh. I understand that this might not sound like a huge amount in regard to the actual price of the SUV. However, the fact that the Japanese carmaker is offering any offer on this SUV is strange. It is always in demand and no additional motivation is needed to push people to buy it. Perhaps there is enough inventory at the moment. Hence, dealers are showering such benefits to make sales.
Note that the Legender is the specific variant of the Toyota Fortuner. The Fortuner derives power from either a 2.7-litre petrol or a 2.8-litre turbo diesel. In the petrol guise, the SUV makes 164 hp and 245 Nm, while in the diesel version, it generates a respectable 201 hp and 420 Nm (500 Nm with automatic transmission) of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing the transmission duties are a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The top diesel trims are available with sophisticated 4×4 drivetrain. The prices range from Rs 33.43 lakh to Rs 51.44 lakh, ex-showroom.

Our View
Offering benefits on cars generally points to the fact that the carmakers are trying excessively to spur demand. Also, at times, there is just a lot of stock unsold at some locations. That is also when dealers want to get rid of that inventory. To achieve that, there are attractive benefits when can temp a lot of fence-sitters. We just have to see if these latest offers have the same impact on the customers or not.
