Did Ratan Tata Actually Donate Mahindra Scorpio SUVs to Indian Army?
Internet is a funny place where it is difficult to differentiate between what is true and what is fake
A news is spreading online claiming that Ratan Tata donated 2,500 bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio SUVs to the Indian Army personnel in Jammu and Kashmir. However, you need to dig deep to find out the truth. We know that the Scorpio is a popular product in India. It has found applications across various fields in addition to being a passenger SUV. The reason for that is its ruggedness and affordability. In fact, it has served the Indian Army in a regular guise. But let’s find out if the news of the bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio SUVs is true or not.
Bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio SUVs For The Indian Army?
This post emerges from kamalrawatmundawar on Instagram. It has images of the Mahindra Scorpio with an Army green colour theme. The text in the post claims that these are the new bulletproof SUVs which have been donated by Ratan Tata to the Indian Army in J&K. If you do a Google search of these images, you will find out that this is the same model which was on display as a concept car called the Mahindra Rakshak Plus at the Defense Expo back in 2012. Also, a bulletproof Scorpio was provided to the J&K police officers back in 2021. In fact, even the regular Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUVs have been ordered by the Indian Army.
However, there is no mention of these bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio SUVs being donated to the Indian Army in J&K in recent times anywhere on the official social media handles of either Ratan Tata or Mahindra. Add to that the fact that these images were previously spotted at the time of the Defense Expo 2012. As a result, this is a fake report being circulated online just to garner some views. I would like to advise our readers to not fall for such information.
Our View
In today’s day and age, it has become immensely critical to check the veracity of anything that goes online. In a bid to boost their followers and grab views, people are willing to do anything. As a matter of fact, it is common knowledge that we live in an era of misinformation. It spreads faster than the right information. Therefore, you must exercise caution and not believe everything that is there on the internet. Also, make sure to do your due diligence before jumping to any conclusions.
