Polestar announced today that it has begun delivering vehicles to Hertz as part of a previously announced deal. As part of the deal, you can now rent a rare hybrid Polestar 1.

The Polestar 1’s hybrid drives deliver impressive 609 hp. (454 kW / 617 horsepower) and 737 pound-feet (1000 Nm) of torque. With extensive use of carbon fiber and special Ohlins shock absorbers, it has been rated as a good performer.

The biggest news for Polestar is that it has started handing over to Hertz a fully electric Polestar 2. The order, which is part of a deal to supply a total of 65,000 vehicles to the leasing company over the next five years, is important for the Swedish brand.

“Our partnership with Hertz is an exciting time that will allow many potential new customers to see electric vehicles for the first time, and it will be in Polestar,” said Thomas Ingenlat, CEO of Polestar. “More than 55,000 Polestar cars have hit our 25 live markets, and there is no doubt that our brand is growing at an incredible pace.”

Polestar does not specify exactly how much Polestar 2 it delivers, but they are not the only EV the company will give Hertz as part of this deal. It will also provide the company with other models, such as the Polestar 3 electric SUV, which is set to launch in October.

Darren Arrington, Hertz’s vice president of revenue management and fleet acquisition, said: “We are delighted to have added the first Polestars delivery to our fleet, expanding the opportunities for Hertz customers to enjoy the experience of driving electric vehicles.”

In addition to the opportunity to rent Polestar 2 soon, the public will be able to see it in Hertz’s current “Let’s Go” marketing campaign.
