We are all familiar with the dying generation of high-displacement, high-cylinder sedans, but it is not so popular that there are actually two naturally atmospheric V8 sedans left on the market. These two cars – Lexus IS 500 and Dodge Charger 392 (also R / T, but 392 was used in the video) and CarLegion decided to put them against each other to see how they compare.

Judging by the characteristics of the sedans, they are very close. The Lexus 5.0-liter V8 is rated at 472 hp. and weighs 395 pounds and weighs 3,891 pounds (1,765 kg). The Dodge, by contrast, is powered by a 6.4-liter V8 with 485 hp. and 475 pound-feet of torque, but it is much heavier at 4,372 pounds (1,983 kg). The engines of both cars are equipped with natural air and both send their power to the rear wheels only through the automatic transmission.

In the first drag race, when the IS was launched, he jumped on the charger and just continued to pull, finishing about four cars ahead by the end. The second drag race was much closer, but the charger still could not get through the rear bumper of the Lexus. In the first round, Dodge’s extra strength gave him the impetus he needed to overtake a Lexus, and the finish line was a mirror image of the second drag race. The final lap race saw the two cars collide throughout the race, but in the end the charger won by a few feet.

At the end of the day, these two cars seem to match evenly, so the choice to own one is up to you.
