Indian roads can be full of strange personalities and this latest trend of people dressing up as popular superheroes performing stunts on the roads is really catching on.

A bizarre case has emerged from Delhi where a ‘Spiderman’ was nabbed by the Police for riding on a car’s bonnet while performing stunts. Social media attention seekers end up getting involved in all sorts of activities which could potentially be perilous not just for themselves, but also for others around them. I have reported incidents around stunts on roads for a long time now. Somehow, people love to perform stunts on roads and post it online to gain views and followers. That is the worst form of addiction and it sends the wrong message to the youngsters. Let us delve deep into the specifics of this latest case.

The details of this latest case have been reported by ANI on X. As per the information in this news post, the Delhi Police received a complaint on social media about this car on Dwarka roads. A person dressed as Spiderman was on the bonnet of the car. He was identified as Aditya (20), a resident of Najafgarh. His companion, Gaurav Singh (19) was driving the car. He is a resident of Mahavir Enclave. Both, the owner and driver of the vehicle have been prosecuted for dangerous driving, driving without a pollution certificate, and not wearing a seatbelt, with a possible maximum fine of Rs. 26,000 and/or imprisonment or both.

This is not the first time such a case has appeared. A few months ago, another youngster dressed as Spiderman was performing stunts on the bike along with his friend. It looks like such cases are on the rise and people are willing to do just about anything for social media fame. Thankfully, they come onto the internet which also serves as evidence for the Police to catch and reprimand them. Still, such cases are spreading the wrong message about younger audiences.

Our View

We lose lakhs of lives on our roads each year due to the negligence of the drivers. They often flout traffic regulations, leading to fatal situations. It is high time we take road regulations seriously and encourage everyone else around us to do the same. That is the only way to make our roads safer. Also, I would like to urge our readers to report the miscreants to the authorities so that appropriate action can be taken against them. Let us pledge to be responsible road users.
