The segment, once on the verge of collapse, has returned seismically with rejuvenated offerings such as the Nissan’s Frontier, Ford Ranger and Jeep Gladiator. Of course, they are not an absolute breadwinner compared to their full-size home counterparts, but despite the peak in gas prices, having a foothold in a medium-sized arena is definitely a safe bet.

GM’s Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twins will be updated next. We saw the latter as a prototype, so let’s take a look at the new look of the GMC and other things we know.
Shipping looks good
The resulting canyon is quite beautiful, albeit a small one at visual rates. By 2023, GMC has introduced a sophisticated new approach that aims to elevate Tacoma when it comes to purely aesthetic appeal to the utility.
The front style has an egg grille surrounded by a pair of two-level headlights. The thin upper blocks contain DRL and turn signals, while the lower ones provide the main light source. The side profile was dominated by large, rectangular panels and cut-out sheet metal, but it should be noted that the cabin area looks almost identical to a modern truck.
The rear view corresponds to a reliable, monolithic front; The truck has a competitively sized bed box, LED taillights and a hard-pressed back cover.
A much better place to be
One of the highlights of the current truck was the cab. Fortunately, GMC seems to have dropped the kitchen sink to correct past mistakes with a modern and future-proof interior that takes more than the latest Sierra 1500. Key features include a cluster of digital devices and a horizontal infotainment system that can run Apple CarPlay. and integrated Google features like maps at the same time.
Touch screen critics breathe easy, as the new truck has physical buttons and knobs for the HVAC system located under the information entertainment display. The corresponding power / volume button is located in the upper left corner of the interface. Elsewhere, the Canyon provides improved materials, passenger space, and plenty of semi-autonomous driver assistance.
Platform and power
The basis of the new canyon (and the upcoming Colorado) will be a heavily revised version of GM’s GMT32XX platform. It also offers a new version of the GM electrical architecture to enable on-air updates and other remote connection services.
Although we have no official confirmation of what power transmissions are offered, we are confident that GM’s highly advanced L3B 2.7-liter built-in four-turbocharged unit will be used as the sole engine. In the larger twins Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, this unit is powered by GM 310 hp. paired with a 10-speed automatic that produces power and 430 pound-feet of torque. This is not only with the current four 2.5-liter boilers, but also with 308 hp. and 275 pound-feet (373 Nm) more than the 3.6-liter V6.
Opponents and show
The canyon’s direct competitors include the subterranean twin Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota’s best-selling Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Ford Ranger and Jeep Gladiator. The truck is again offered in a variety of specifications, including a ZR2-like AT4X finish from the Chevy twins. GM made its official debut this summer, so check back soon for more details.
