The future of electric and here are some practical options for electric vehicles in our country. While this is not the first electric model introduced in India, it could lead to electric vehicles entering a large group of Indian buyers.
The Tata Nexon EV Max was released earlier this month and is superior to the premium Nexon EV. With the help of the new Max, Tata brought the price and convenience that corresponds to the initial model of the MG – ZS EV. However, Hyundai’s excellent electric Kona is at a high level compared to these two.
Let’s compare their prices here:
Models | Ex-salon price |
Tata Nexon EV Max | 17.74 lacquer – Rs 19.24 |
MG ZS EV | 22 lakhs rupees – 25.88 rupees |
Hyundai Kona Electric | 23.84 lacquer – Rs 24.03 |
The price of the current model of the previous model Nexon EV will be in the range of 14.79 varnishes – 17.40 varnishes.
Power structures and performance:
Tata has largely upgraded the Nexon EV with a better electric motor and a larger battery pack, and has added many safety features in the form of the new Nexon EV Max. Now these ammunitions are almost equal to premium electric models such as the Nexon EV Max MG ZS EV. Hyundai’s Kona Electric is uncomfortable with this.
Here is a table comparing the battery, maximum power output and acceleration capacity of each of these 3 models.
Models | Battery capacity | Maximum power | Maximum torque | Acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h (declared) |
Tata Nexon EV Max | 40.5 kW / h | 143PS | 250Nm | 9 seconds |
MG ZS EV | 50.3 kW / h | 176PS | 280Нм | 8.5 seconds |
Hyundai Kona Electric | 39.2 kW / h | 136 Nm | 395Нм | 9.7 seconds |
Clearly, the ZS EV ranks first in the performance category, followed by the Nexon EV Max. The Kona electric 3 may come with the smallest battery pack, but it has the highest torque of all.
Range and battery charging capacity:
Models | ARAI certified range | 7.2 kW AC Fast charging time (0 – 100%) | 50 kW DC fast charging time (0 – 80%) |
Tata Nexon EV Max | 437 | 6.5 hours | 56 min |
MG ZS EV | 461 | 8.5 – 9 hours | 60 min |
Hyundai Kona Electric | 452 | 6 hours 10 minutes | 57 min |
- Models require effective ARAI-certified ranges, but real-world range tests show that they fall slightly below these numbers. The MG reached an impressive 317 km, while the Kona electric covered 250 km.
- However, we haven’t tested the Nexon EV Max since it was released last week. Therefore, we hope that he will live up to his expectations.
- During this time, its parent model, the Nexon EV, traveled up to 208 km on Indian roads.
- Not surprisingly, the MG ZS takes the longest time to recover after a charge, as it comes with the largest battery pack. But this makes the Nexon EV Max attractive with a charging time of about an hour.
Equipment comparison:
Tata Nexon EV Max | MG ZS EV | Hyundai Kona Electric | |

Cruise control | Yes | Yes | Yes |

Conclusion:
Although the Nexon EV Max belongs to a different segment, it has raised great hopes among car enthusiasts that it will be able to run harder on the other 2 models. Its cost is higher than the standard model, but much cheaper than the ZS EV and Kona. Security features are also a definite plus in its column. The Kona doesn’t look very attractive at an expensive price, but its stunning and interesting design may appeal to some buyers. On the other hand, the ZS EV is a premium purchase with all the bells and whistles.
