The Indian automobile market contains all sorts of alternative powertrains to power the future of cars.
In this post, we shall discuss the use cases of the Tata Curvv EV and Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid. Both these are designed for ultra-low running cost applications. We know that fuel prices have gone through the roof in the last few years. Going forward, they will only go up further. Not to mention, the petrol and diesel cars cause immense tailpipe emissions. As environmental policies become stronger around the world, we need to look for alternatives to preserve nature. That is what led to the inception of electric cars. On the other hand, hybrid cars are, sort of, a middle point between ICE and electric cars which can play a crucial role during the transition phase.
Who Should Buy Tata Curvv EV?
- Flexible Budget – The most crucial aspect of purchasing a car is how flexible your budget is. India is a price-conscious market. Hence, the price of any car becomes the most important. EVs are known to be significantly more expensive than ICE or hybrid cars. Therefore, if you are willing to spend a relatively large sum of money, the Tata Curvv EV should be your preferred choice. It ranges from Rs 17.49 lakh to Rs 21.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
- Road Presence – Tata Curvv EV is famous for being one of the first coupe SUVs in the mass market category in India. That lends it a distinct road presence unlike anything else at this price point. People looking to make heads turn when they are out on the road would ideally want to buy the Curvv EV.
- Low Running Costs – If the monthly running is high, EVs offer the least running costs. The price you pay for charging an EV is much lower than the price you have to pay to get petrol or diesel to run the same distance. That is the biggest advantage of EVs.
- Latest Features – Tata Curvv EV is one of the most feature-packed products in this segment. We have seen that the Indian auto giant focuses a lot on offering the latest tech and convenience amenities to its customers. Curvv EV is no different with the modern gadgets and gizmos along with top-notch safety equipment.
- No Tailpipe Emissions – Finally, electric cars are known for being clean for the environment as they emit zero pollution during their operation. However, I must mention here that the production of EV batteries does create pollution. However, it is unclear how much emission is caused by that and how much time it takes to compensate for that in terms of ownership duration.
Who Should Buy Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid?
- Affordability – In comparison to electric cars in general and Tata Curvv EV in particular, the Grand Vitara Hybrid is more affordable. People looking to own a car with incredibly high mileage (ARAI-rated 27.97 km/l) can opt for the Vitara. The main advantage over pure EVs is that there are no issues related to range anxiety as it uses petrol.
- Higher Resale – A common reason why people opt for Maruti Suzuki cars is the high resale value. Maruti Suzuki has thousands of touchpoints across various parts of the nation. It ensures that people are able to service their cars just about anywhere. That contributes toward making Maruti cars some of the best when it comes to resale value.
- No Worries About Charging – Since the Grand Vitara is a hybrid, owners don’t need to worry about finding a charging station. That is a huge issue with pure EVs as the infrastructure will still take a long time to develop. If you don’t live in a large city, it is almost impossible to use an EV. But there is no such issue with hybrid cars.
- Proven Technology – The hybrid engine in the Maruti Grand Vitara comes from Toyota. Toyota has been making hybrid engines for decades now. Hence, the reliability factor is extremely high. On the other hand, the EV technology is still at a nascent stage.
