Kia has officially released a teaser of the upcoming premium MPV and the launch is slated for October 3.
The next generation Kia Carnival was recently spotted at the Delhi Airport. Carnival is a premium MPV which has done decent sales in India. In fact, it has established the brand image of the Korean auto giant in addition to products like the Sonet, Seltos and Carens. As a result, people consider Kia to be a company which offers relatively premium vehicles at competitive prices. As a result, it has managed to sell a whopping 1 million (10 lakh) cars within 59 months of operation. Going forward, it aims to continue this dominance.
Next Generation Kia Carnival Seen
The latest visuals appear from driftxp_ on Instagram. Someone has captured a video of the MPV from a bus at the Delhi Airport. The MPV is tied to the back of a trailer. Interestingly, it is not wearing any camouflage. Hence, we are able to experience the front fascia of the MPV which contains striking LED lighting and a broad Tiger Nose grille. I also like the new alloy wheel design. Looking at it from the side reveals the sheer length of this MPV. There are even sporty and rugged elements on the door panels with roof rails. The space for sliding doors is visible towards the third quarter.
Comparing these to the official teaser of the next generation Kia Carnival, it is clearly the new model. In fact, it will be imported as a CBU initially. Hence, we already know what the international version looks like. The teaser captures the rear profile which contains a connected LED taillamp cluster and a rugged skid plate. On the inside, it will get high-tech amenities including things like a large infotainment display, a colossal instrument cluster, head-up display, digital IRVM, ambient lighting, front and rear dashcams and more. Hence, you can be certain that the interior will be premium. I don’t expect any deviation from the existing 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine and automatic transmission. Being a CBU model, the prices might be in the vicinity of Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom.
Our View
Kia Carnival has dominated the premium MPV space in India. The only comparable rival was the Toyota Innova Hycross. However, if the new generation Kia Carnival is priced at around Rs 50 lakh, it won’t have any direct competitors. That will make things interesting indeed. Also, with time, Kia will look for local assembly. That will bring the costs down. Let us keep an eye out for more details ahead of the official launch on October 3.
