MG Motor is planning a compact electric SUV for the Indian market as official teasers reveal new details.
The soon-to-be-launched MG Windsor EV has been officially teased with a rather premium feature – Aero-Lounge seats. This is the first-in-India amenity which makes it quite impressive. MG has not been having the best time on the sales charts. The competition in various segments is immensely stiff. Therefore, it is not easy to secure high sales. With the Windsor EV, the Chinese-owned British carmaker wants to expand its footprint in the electric car category in India. Note that it already offers the Comet EV and ZS EV here. Let us take a look at the details of this latest case.
MG Windsor EV with Reclining Lounge Rear Seat
The latest video from MG highlights the most unique functionality of the upcoming EV. Inspired by aero-lounge seats, the rear seats of the Windsor EV can go back by a whopping 135 degrees. That is almost like the front seats which people can use to rest comfortably. If you don’t have any luggage in the boot compartment, the entire second row can easily be reclined steeply. As a result, the passengers can be transported around with utmost comfort and luxury. I would imagine this might turn out to be pretty famous among the owners who love to be driven around by their chauffeurs.
Now we know that the MG Windsor EV will resemble the Cloud EV sold in the international markets. Hence, I can venture to make some logical guesses with respect to the specifications. The compact electric SUV could get a 38 kWh battery pack which can offer a range of 450 km on a single charge. In terms of dimensions, the EV will be around 4.3 m, which is what the ZS EV also measures. The wheelbase will be a decent 2.7 m. We shall come to know about the exact specifications once MG comes up with new details. On YouTube, a few details have already emerged.

Our View
MG is aiming to expand its electric portfolio in our market. We know that the future of mobility is electric. In India, this revolution is still at its nascent stage. Therefore, the potential is immense. MG already has some experience in this space since it already sells the Comet EV and ZS EV in India. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how the British automaker plans the Windsor EV. I shall keep an eye out for more details in this case.
