Meet India’s Only Mahindra Thar with 6 Wheels – Video

RC Verma

Car modification has gone onto the next level in India in recent times as people are willing to customize their cars extensively

This latest car customization instance showcases a Mahindra Thar which has 6 wheels. You must have seen innumerable cases of car modifications. However, I doubt there are many where the entire mechanical element of the vehicle is altered. I know that Mahindra is one of the most heavily modified vehicles in India. People often buy it for off-roading. Hence, they primarily go for modifications which aid the adventurous traits of the SUV. Still, there are some who just want to perform all sorts of mods on their cars. Let us take a look at the details of this case here.

Mahindra Thar with 6 Wheels

The specifics of this incident emerge from gscustoms.bharat on Instagram. The visuals capture an extensively customized Mahindra Thar. At the front, it gets a sold cladding around the grille and a colossal hood scoop. I feel the most rugged aspect at the front is the massive winch attached to the new bumper for towing activities. Apart from that, it even gets LED lighting at the front and cutouts for the bumper to enhance the approach angle. On the sides, there are off-roading-focused alloy wheels with high-profile tyres and a prominent fender.

Also, I particularly like the truck-like ORVMs mounted on long rods. On the sides, this Thar gets side steps for easier ingress and egress for the occupants. The lights have been covered with X markings. At the rear, the boot compartment contains two Jerry cans and sturdy rods with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Interestingly, the rear section consists of two wheels on each side. This makes it, perhaps, the only Thar in the country which has 6 wheels. Finally, the red tow hooks accentuate the rugged stance. This has to be among the most heavily modified Mahindra Thar SUVs I have come across in recent times.

My View

I have encountered countless aftermarket car modifications, particularly on the Mahindra Thar. However, I must admit that I have never seen a Thar with 6 wheels. People just don’t go that far. Also, I am not sure how the performance of the SUV is affected after this. In any case, I would advise our readers to know the process and the reasons for any modifications prior to doing it. Also, you should ideally consult your local RTO to know which alterations are legal and which are not. In any case, I shall bring more such cases in times to come.
