Having a hardcore 4×4 vehicle can make all the difference if you are stuck in snow or on such treacherous terrains.
In a rather astonishing feat, a Maruti Jimny tows a massive recovery truck stuck in snow in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. Jimny is a dedicated lightweight off-roading SUV with massive success across the globe. However, this is the first time it is available in a 5-door guise just for the Indian market. Sure, the exports have commenced out of India as well. The 5-door iteration of the Jimny caters to all those who want a much more practical version of the off-roading machine. The addition of the extra doors enhances the ingress and egress characteristics of the SUV. Also, the boot space is increased. Still, it remains an impressive and capable off-roader. This latest case is a perfect example of that.
Maruti Jimny Tows Recovery Truck
The details of this post come from BRH Expeditions on YouTube. The visuals document the challenging conditions in the Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh. At the beginning of the video, the vloggers are seen wrapping snow chains around the tyres of their cars. They are getting ready to drive on thick snow. After they go to town, they encounter many cars stuck at this one portion of the road where the snow has become ice and the traction is negligible. The Jimny driver is helping everyone he can by towing them and pulling them out of that patch. He starts by towing a Toyota Fortuner which was struggling to put down power due to slippage.
However, the most impressive part was when the Jimny pulled the recovery truck. Sure, the truck just needed a pull after which it was able to drive. Still, the fact that the Jimny was able to tow it on such a slippery surface speaks volumes about the off-roading prowess of the lightweight off-roader. In the latter part of the video, the Jimny driver even rescues a local Maruti Alto taxi stuck at this same spot. After what it had already done, pulling the Alto was definitely a much easier task. All in all, the Maruti Jimny performed extremely well despite harsh terrains.
Our View
Now, as someone who lives in the mountains and comes across such situations frequently, I would like to warn our readers to never attempt anything like this, particularly after looking at such videos. It might seem relatively easy online. However, that can’t be farther away from the truth. Things can turn ugly in a blink of an eye. This was still a relatively safe location with houses all around. If you get stuck in the open with cliffs close by, you must never try any such attempts and wait for someone experienced. Each year, many lives are lost due to such extreme environments. Also, towing so many cars takes a toll on the engine of your car as well. That could have long-term implications too. Therefore, you must refrain from getting entangled in such situations at all costs.
