Mahindra Thar Roxx Features Leaked

Mahindra has been releasing official teasers and images of the upcoming Mahindra Thar Roxx to create buzz around the off-roader.

The features of the upcoming Mahindra Thar Roxx have been showcased in the official teaser. The 5-door iteration of the Thar was undergoing extensive testing for the longest time. In fact, I have reported about the test mule from the higher reaches of the Himalayas, the sand dunes of the deserts, the twisting roads of the mountains and prominent highways across the nation. It is clear that the Indian auto giant doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned to make sure that the Thar Roxx remains capable regardless of the environment it operates in.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Features Leaked

The trailer from Mahindra about the Thar Roxx showcases various aspects. These include things like a digital instrument cluster, a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment display, physical buttons for HVAC, a large panoramic sunroof, perforated upholstery, dual-stitching on the dashboard, chrome surrounds on the AC vents, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, soft-touch materials on the dashboard, Harman Kardon music system and more. However, what excites me the most is the toggle switch for adaptive cruise control and differential lock. That will be the main attraction of the 5-door Thar.

For the uninitiated, a differential lock allows the two wheels on the same axle to move at the same speed with the help of equal torque distribution. In the case of a surface where one wheel is in the air, by engaging a diff lock, it won’t keep spinning when the driver presses the accelerator pedal. Instead, it will move at the same speed as the other wheel which is on the ground. Hence, the vehicle will be able to come out of a tough situation quite effortlessly. Apart from that, adaptive cruise control allows the vehicle to keep track of the speed of the car in front and accelerate and brake accordingly. It is a part of the ADAS suite. More details will emerge on August 15.

Our View

Mahindra is addressing the biggest concern with the 3-door Thar – practicality and space. The ingress and egress characteristics of the 3-door version were severely hampered due to the 3-door configuration. Also, the boot space was excruciatingly limited. But in the larger 5-door Thar, the wheelbase has been extended as it is based on the Scorpio N’s platform. That has resulted in dedicated doors for the second-row passengers along with a bigger boot compartment. To take things a notch higher, the Indian auto giant will equip it with tons of modern amenities to pamper the occupants. Let us see how well the customers embrace it.
