Mahindra released the first photos and images of the Scorpio-N, a new mid-size SUV with a new stair frame, which will be released on the Indian market on June 27. In terms of design, Scorpio-N represents an important step ahead of its predecessors, which seems very modern and optimized for Indian market standards. The young talent from Mahindra design studio in Mumbai (India) has retained the traditional proportions of SUVs, but has given it an aerodynamic shape, strengthened its muscles and added new features. These include LED headlights, a new Mahindra grille and emblem, a prominent step in the window line as shown in the XUV700, as well as a set of Volvo-style taillights.

Mahindra did not show photos of the interior, but described it as a premium and promised “advanced modern features and the latest technology”, which could be related to a cluster of larger informational entertainment touch screens and higher-end digital devices.

Technically, the Scorpio-N project, code-named Z101, remains true to the rugged nature of its predecessor, based on a new building architecture built at home in the Mahindra Research Field near Chennai, India. , and Mahindra North American Technical Center in Auburn Hills (USA). The new platform is expected to bring significant improvements in security and technology, while Mahindra claims to raise the bar in terms of performance and off-road credentials.

As for the power units, Scorpio-N is offered with both petrol and diesel with a choice of manual or automatic transmission. There is also a 4 × 4 option, which means that the initial level finish comes with the rear drive. Local media It assumes that the XUV700 and Thar can get 2.0-liter gasoline and 2.2-liter turbodiesel engines found under the hood.

We know more and more about Mahindra Scorpio-N as we get closer to its official debut. The SUV will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan plant in India. Competitors in the Indian market include Tata Harrier (based on Land Rover Discovery) and MG Hector Plus. We don’t know if Mahindra will export the new Scorpio-N to other markets where ICE-powered SUVs still exist.
