The coupe SUV has been spotted performing road tests for a long time now and the production-spec model has finally been revealed.
The interior and exterior of the all-new Citroen Basalt 2024 have been revealed in production form. With this, the Basalt becomes the first mass-market SUV to bear the coupe silhouette. Until now, this body shape was restricted to high-end premium cars only. The Citroen Basalt uses the same platform as the C3 Aircross and even borrows tons of exterior styling elements and in-cabin features. Note that the Basalt will be made for the Indian market along with plans of exporting it to many international markets like South America and Europe. Let us take a look in detail at what you get.
All-New Citroen Basalt 2024 – Specs
The Citroen Basalt carries the same powertrain options as the C3 Aircross. This includes either a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 82 hp and 115 Nm, or a 1.2-litre turbo petrol mill which generates a decent 110 PS and 190 Nm (205 Nm w/ AT) of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties is a 5-speed manual with the NA petrol, 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic with the turbo petrol mill. The mileage figures are 18 km/l for the NA petrol, 19.5 km/l for the turbo petrol MT and 18.7 km/l for the turbo petrol AT. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in under 10 seconds. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm along with the best-in-class aerodynamics, ride and handling.

Exterior Styling
The main highlight of the Citroen Basalt is its external appearance. In fact, I intend to start describing its styling from the side profile. This is what sets it apart from the rest of the vehicles. There is a sloping roofline which culminates at the bootlid giving it the coupe stance. Apart from that, it has elegant 17-inch alloy wheels with matte plastic side claddings on the door panels and around the wheel arches. At the front, there are projector headlamps with split-LED DRLs, a large chrome Chevron logo, a faux skid plate and a bifurcated grille. At the rear, the Basalt gets a sporty bumper, halogen taillamps and silver bumper.
Interior and Features
On the inside, again, most elements are borrowed from the Citroen C3 Aircross. However, there are some critical changes as well. These include a redesigned HVAC panel with digital readouts, a large front armrest with storage space and new rear headrests. A segment-first convenience feature is the adjustable thigh support for the rear passengers. It has a 470-litre luggage compartment. Other top amenities include:
- 10.25-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System
- 7-inch Digital Instrument Cluster
- Three-Spoke Steering Wheel with Controls
- C-Cubed Design Elements throughout the cabin
- Textured Dashboard Layout
- Lumbar Support
- Wireless Apple CarPlay
- Connected Car Tech with 40+ Features
- Use of Ultra-High-Strength Steel
- ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts
- Rear Camera
