Digital artists often create unfathomable iterations of prominent cars and this is the latest example of that trend
A prominent digital artist has come up with an overlanding concept of the 5-door Mahindra Thar. Now, Thar is the most popular off-roading moniker in the country. It has been around since 2010. Over its evolution, we find it in a practical 5-door avatar at the moment. Note that the 3-door iteration is selling alongside. As the craze of the larger Thar intensifies, automobile artists commence using it as a blank canvas to demonstrate their imagination and creativity. Let us take a look at the details of this latest case here.
5-door Mahindra Thar Overlanding Concept
This post emerges from nstreet_design on Instagram. It captures the virtual rendition of the Thar in an overlanding avatar. At the front, it gets the orange LED DRLs surrounding the LED headlamps, a colossal bull bar mounted on the rugged bumper with LED fog lamps. Apart from that, there are auxiliary lights on the roof as well. On the sides, I love the ginormous alloy wheels with ultra-high profile tyres. These are accommodated into the wheel arches quite well. The sturdy side steps enhance the ingress and egress traits of the SUV. The rear section is relatively unaltered but bears the golden theme on the spare wheel.
However, the most enticing aspect of this Thar is what lies on the roof. The artist has taken inspiration from overlanding vehicles which people create in real life. They install the assembly which houses a full-sized tent on the roof of a car. When people go out on long journeys, they can sleep inside this tent under the beauty of the night sky and bright stars. To climb atop the roof, there is a long ladder which provides the route to the tent. Even though this is a digital illustration, I can already see many 5-door Mahindra Thar owners opt for this as an aftermarket accessory.
Our View
I like the way the artist has gone about creating this concept. He/She has not gone overboard with the customizations. That is why this looks like something that you would find on the road. In all honesty, these are the kinds of modifications I appreciate since they are based in reality. At times, digital artists can flow in their feelings and develop such extreme versions of the cars that it becomes clear that these would never go into production. In any case, I shall keep an eye out for more such renditions.
