The Creta-rivalling mid-size SUV was launched back in 2021 and has been due for a facelift for quite a while

The Skoda Kushaq facelift has finally surfaced online. Being a prominent upcoming product, the spy shots capture the SUV with heavy camouflage. Skoda recently announced its India 2.5 plans which incorporate its future strategies including new products. Updating the existing lineup is also a salient part of that plan. It will start with the Kushaq and Slavia. Going forward, we will even have an all-new compact SUV and an electric vehicle on offer. For now, let us stick to the details of the Skoda Kushaq facelift.

The video stems from the Car World channel on YouTube. The visuals offer a glimpse into the design of the upcoming Skoda Kushaq facelift. While the vehicle is wrapped in camouflage for the most part, there are still some observations that we can make. For instance, the front profile looks altered with the latest design philosophy. Hence, we get a neatly aligned new grille and the LED headlamp cluster. The fascia looks subtle but sophisticated. On the sides, the alloy wheels will be fresh. Finally, the tail section will be slightly tweaked with a new bumper and taillamps.

Apart from that, the interior cabin layout will be similar to the existing model but we will see the addition of some new features. In fact, it will get ADAS active safety tech to rival the competitors. Under the hood, we won’t see any changes. Hence, it will carry the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine generating familiar 115 PS / 178 Nm and 150 PS / 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Buyers will get the option to choose between manual and automatic transmissions. At present, the prices range from Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 18.79 lakh, ex-showroom. With the facelift version, these will see some premium.

My View

Skoda is having a great time in India. In fact, India is Skoda’s biggest market outside Europe. The India 2.0 strategy was a massive success with the MQB A0 IN platform which underpins the Kushaq and Slavia. With the same enthusiasm, the India 2.5 initiative is underway. Hence, we will see the existing models get significant updates along with the arrival of the Kylaq compact SUV and electric by next year (2025). If you are a Skoda fan, exciting times lie ahead. I shall keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
