In fact, it is one of the highest-selling vehicles in the country every month. At present, it comes with a regular 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated K-Series petrol mill with manual and automatic transmission options. Apart from that, it offers loads of modern amenities to pamper the customers. To make things more interesting, we will get the Baleno with an even more fuel-efficient hybrid avatar. This could be the same engine which powers the new Swift but with a strong hybrid configuration.
Maruti Swift
The Maruti Swift is currently available in India in its 4th generation avatar. This time around, there have been many modifications including a brand-new engine. It gets a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine which is good for 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. Buyers can choose between either a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. However, in its native market, the Swift even draws power from a strong hybrid mill. In that case, the mileage figure could hover around an astonishing 35 km/l. Remember, Swift was also recently launched with the CNG engine as well. Hence, the potential customers will be able to choose between multiple powertrain options depending on their needs.
Maruti Dzire
We know that the Maruti Dzire always follows in the footsteps of the Swift. This is because the Dzire is, essentially, the sedan version of the Swift itself. Until now, most design elements, powertrains and features were almost identical. However, with the upcoming 4th-generation Dzire, the aesthetics will be significantly different. In fact, the Dzire will have its own identity and it will break away from the Swift’s shadow completely, at least from the outside. Nevertheless, it will borrow the powertrains with the Swift. As a result, once the Swift gets a strong hybrid mill, it will even power the Dzire compact sedan.
Maruti Fronx
The next vehicle on this list of the Maruti Suzuki hybrid cars about to launch in India in the coming months is the Maruti Fronx. At present, the largest carmaker in the country offers the Fronx in two powertrain configurations – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill. This is crucial since it gives the buyers an opportunity to choose the right variant for their needs. Performance enthusiasts will opt for the peppy turbo petrol mill. Going forward, the Fronx will also be available with a strong hybrid engine to cater to those who want their cars to have low running costs. I suspect the engine will be the same as the Swift hybrid.
Maruti Grand Vitara (7-seat)
Finally, Maruti Suzuki is also planning to launch the 7-seat iteration of the Grand Vitara. Now, the Grand Vitara is a mid-size SUV. It belongs to an immensely crowded market segment in India. Vehicles from all major carmakers are present in this space. In the last few months, reports of Maruti planning to introduce the 7-seat iteration of the Grand Vitara have surfaced. Note that the regular SUV is also powered by either a mild hybrid or a strong hybrid mill. The latter comes from the Toyota collaboration. Therefore, even the 7-seat avatar of the Grand Vitara will be a strong hybrid SUV. The 7-seat version will enhance the practicality of the Grand Vitara even more. We know that Indian customers prefer value-for-money propositions. Consequently, the 7-seat Maruti Grand Vitara is bound to do well on the sales charts.
