This is an independent design study by Deyan Hristov for the modern reincarnation of the Citroën 2CV, which has nothing to do with and does not approve of Citroën.
Despite its remarkable history, Citroën seems to be reluctant to follow the retro-inspired trend that has become popular among EV vehicles, including the VW ID. Buzz, Fiat 500 and Honda e. However, this did not prevent independent designer Deyan Hristov from presenting the famous Citroën 2CV reincarnation, which can be returned as an electric crossover with a minimalist design.
Hristov admits that 2CV has inspired many young designers, but many say they are afraid to be true to the original. Citroën’s first-generation C3, C3 Pluriel, the 2009 REVOLTe concept, and Citroën’s own design studio, which used elements of the latest Ami heavy-duty quad bike, also participated, but never revived properly.
Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, the designer retained the original 2CV (1948-1990) image, including the round shape of the roof line, clear fencing and a distinctive bonnet.

Dark LED headlights, a minimalist grille, a beautiful surface of the sculpted body, mirrored cameras and full-width taillights make the 2CV interesting in modern times. Instead of going for the usual supermini hatchback, the designer upgraded the crossover.
This was achieved with a set of rubber tires of large-diameter turbine-type alloy wheels and increased ground clearance. The plastic packaging is limited to the lower part of the bumpers and the side slopes, keeping the appearance stylish. True to the original, most of the tent is drawn for the outdoor driving experience.
The real difference from the 2CV era is the equipment, as modern buyers could not live without manual cleaners and air conditioning. Thus, the 2CV EV five-seater cabin will have all the necessary amenities, including an information and entertainment touch screen, climate control, power windows and an appropriate audio system.
In terms of dimensions, the 2CV EV increased by 381 mm (15 inches) compared to the original, resulting in a length of 4,241 mm (167 inches). This makes it one of the most modern B-SUVs, such as the Peugeot 2008, measuring 4300 mm (169.3 inches). While design research is predictable and does not escape the digital world, 2CV EV can be based on Stellantis’s STLA Small platform in its wake.
As mentioned above, this is not the first time we have seen an independent design study based on classic Citroën models such as the Spartan 2CV and the stunning DS. However, we must admit that the 2CV EV is amazing in the world of urban crossovers, which proves that the original timeless design looks great when combined with modern styling brands.
