Toyota Hilux Gets Stuck Off-Road, Rescued by a Maruti Jimny

RC Verma

Toyota Hilux and Maruti Jimny might belong to two different spectrums of the market, but they both are extremely capable off-roading machines.

In a rather surprising video, a Maruti Jimny ends up rescuing a Toyota Hilux pickup truck which was stuck during an off-roading excursion. Jimny has to be among the most popular lightweight off-roaders on the planet. It has a rich legacy which spans well over 5 decades. In India, the Maruti Jimny is available in a 5-door guise for the first time in its existence. On the other hand, Hilux is the pickup truck iteration of the famed Fortuner. It possesses massive off-roading capabilities. Let us glance a look at the specifics of this latest case.

Maruti Jimny Rescues Toyota Hilux

The video emerges from arpit_ramesh_sharma on Instagram. It captures an instance where some SUV owners find themselves in an isolated location. They are performing adventurous stunts using their off-roading vehicles. At one point, the Hilux gets stuck on some obstacle. Note that this is not a representation of the vehicle. In such environments, any car can get stuck. That is why the other off-roaders need to pull them out. In this case, it just happened to be the Jimny. We see a harness tied to the rear ends of both vehicles.

The driver of the Jimny accelerates hard to pull the Hilux. In the first couple of attempts, he was not successful as even its wheels were skidding on the slippery surface. However, after a few tries, Jimny is able to pull the Hilux out of trouble. This represents the capabilities of the Jimny. Still, I wouldn’t associate this with the shortcomings of the Toyota Hilux. These instances encapsulate regular situations that often crop up during off-roading adventures. However, we must not take anything at face value.

Our View

Interestingly, these two capable off-roading products belong to two different ends of the spectrum. The Hilux costs over Rs 40 lakh in our market, whereas the Jimny retails for around Rs 15 lakh. Still, these are designed specifically to tackle off-roading challenges. Both of them have their own charm. One thing is for sure, none of these will let you down on adventurous excursions. Still, I wouldn’t recommend our readers testing their extreme capabilities often without any reason.
