Drag race is often considered the go-to strategy to compare the straight-line acceleration of two automobiles.
This drag race between the RE Guerrilla 450 and Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is bound to be exciting. The 400-cc two-wheeler segment in India has been quite active in recent times. Potential buyers now have the option of selecting between multiple products in this category. On one hand, the RE Guerrilla 450 is the latest entrant into our market. It borrows the powertrain from the already successful Himalayan 450. However, it is geared more toward highway cruising. On the other hand, the Pulsar NS400Z borrows the engine and transmission from the Dominar 400. Let us see how these compare in a head-to-head competition.
RE Guerrilla 450 vs Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z Drag Race
This video stems from Solo Traveler on YouTube. The two bikes are parked side-by-side. For the first round, the YouTuber takes the Pulsar and his friend rides the Guerrilla. On the count of three, the two riders accelerate hard. The Guerrilla gets a slight lead from the beginning. However, after a while, the Pulsar was able to overtake it. Still, in top-end acceleration, the Guerrilla emerged victorious. To maintain the consistency of results and take into consideration the driving mannerisms, the riders were swapped for the second round. However, the race trajectory followed. Initially, the Guerrilla took the lead, the Pulsar overtook it mid-way and the Guerrilla finished the race ahead of the Pulsar. Hence, the RE Guerrilla 450 was the unequivocal winner of this race.
Specs Comparison
The recently launched Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 draws power from a 452cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC 4-valve Sherpa engine which produces a decent 40.02 PS @8,000 RPM and 40 Nm @5,500 RPM of peak power and torque. There is a 6-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate and slip-and-assist clutch. It gets the ride-by-wire technology and uses a steel tubular frame using the engine as a stressed member. The price ranges from Rs 2.39 lakh to Rs 2.54 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z comes with a 373-cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder DOHC engine which produces a healthy 40 PS @8,000 RPM and 35 Nm @6,500 RPM of peak power and torque. Our View
I would like to caution our readers to never attempt such drag races themselves. YouTubers often adopt this method to test the performance of two motorcycles or cars. However, they take numerous precautions behind the scenes which the viewers don’t see. Hence, to think that even you could do something like this with your bike tomorrow is not prudent. Let us pledge to be responsible riders and stay away from unnecessary stunts. The only way to remain safe is to adhere to the traffic rules and encourage everyone around us to do the same.
