This is not the first time the first time a luxury carmaker has been sued due to such an issue.

Bollywood actor Rimi Sen has sued Land Rover for a defective Range Rover. Rimi has been away from the silver screen for a long time now. She is a prominent actor who primarily works in Hindi, Telugu and Bengali films. Even though she has been working as a child actor since 1996, her debut lead role was in 2002 in the Telugu film Nee Thodu Kavali. Other successful blockbusters under her belt include Hungama (2003), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Dhoom (2004), Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), Garam Masala (2005) and more. She owns the 2020 Range Rover SUV. Let us take a look at the details of this latest case.

Rimi Sen Sues Land Rover

As per the information online, Rimi Sen has sued Navnit Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, and Satish Motors after getting frustrated with the recurring issues in her luxury SUV. The complaint by the Bigg Bogg 9 fame states, “Around 25th August 2022, the Complainant bumped the said Car into a pillar from the rear end due to the rear camera not working properly again. The Opposite Party No. 1 has been nothing but ignorant, discourteous, and ill-mannered towards the problems of the Complainant.” Reportedly, she has taken the car to the service centre more than 10 times. However, she claims that the issue remains unsolved.

Talking to Times of India, the actor said, “I was absolutely disappointed with the car company and its services. The worst part was their attitude towards their customers. I bumped into a pillar, but it easily could have been a human being. No amount of money or anything else could have saved someone’s life. Their negligence could have cost someone’s life. It was life-threatening. I could have easily been in a fatal accident. I have demanded ₹50 crore as compensation, and I absolutely deserve it for all the trauma I endured. I hope I get justice. My lawyers, Pushpa Ganediwala & Company, are handling the case.”

Our View

Now this is a rather complicated case the details of which are not completely known to the public. Therefore, we would refrain from commenting on anything. Still, if the allegations are correct, it is a bit disappointing to see one of the biggest luxury SUV brands in the world failing to fix an issue and making the customer go through such pain for this long. A camera is a safety feature in a car. Hence, it should always be in a working condition. I hope this situation gets diffused soon. I shall keep an eye out for more details in this case.
